Meet the Author
I’m a Professor of International Law, working at Warwick Law School, where I also direct the Centre for Critical Legal Studies. Prior to joining Warwick, I taught at the University of Liverpool, the University of Leiden, and King’s College London (which is also where I did my PhD).
I have published extensively on international law, political economy, aesthetics, and critical pedagogy. One of my main areas of enquiry is international law’s complicity in neoliberal capitalsim, elite accumulation, and extractivism. I aim to unsettle the reflex by Left-leaning thinkers and activist for more laws, arguing instead that some of the most exploitative legal structures must first be undone.
My research has been supported by competitive fellowships, including a Leverhulme Research Fellowship and an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Researchers. At the University of Liverpool, I won the prize for Outstanding Early Career Researcher. I have also won a teaching prize at King’s College London.
